PRESCHOOL NEWS FOR WEEK OF 5/6/24

IN THE SKY

What do I see up  in the sky?

A helicopter flying by!

I see the sun, I see the moon.

I see a bird and hot air balloon!

A rainbow high, in the sky.

I see a cloud floating by.

I see a dark sky every night.

During the day, the sky is bright!

God created night and God created day. This week in our preschool class, the theme will represent “Light and Dark.” Our new letter person this week is “Ms. L.” Ms. L is the letter person who loves to laugh and have fun. But what makes her laugh “unique,” is that she has the longest laugh and it is hard for her to be serious. Ms. L will tell us, oh course, she loves to laugh, but she also loves to learn new things. One of the things Ms. L wants to learn about and is curious about is how to tell the difference between day/night.

Our literature stories and science lessons will help us to discover how/why light (day) and dark (night) occur. In math, our lessons will revolve around sorting, categorizing, patterning, number sequence and graphing items from our above theme.

The children’s journey in faith will center on : Mother Mary and the rosary, as well as : The Psalm 20:7-Gideon and An Army of 300. We will learn about how God always provides us with a victory. God shows us how to be victorious by using “torches and trumpets” to use our abilities to achieve when we call his name.

Art will focus on our “Mother’s Day,” May, as well as,  Letter V and L projects.

IMPORTANT FACTS

DON’T forget to work/review skills daily with your child. Make sure you read to your child nightly as part of your bedtime routine. This is a great way to increase your child’s comprehension, letter recognition, and writing skills. But not only theses skills, but help your child’s verbal expression as well. be aware that working at home daily with your child will strengthen your child’s academic growth, progress and performance. I have noticed since we have returned from break some of us are moving backwards. I realize the year is almost over, but learning still moves forward. Your child is growing and maturing forward as well. So please take the time to review. I know-WE ARE ALL BUSY-BUT A LITTLE TIME IS BETTER THAN NO TIME! Our little ones love when they do something well-“THEIR SMILES AND EXCITEMENT IS PRICELESS!”

PLEASE CONSIDER ATTENDING MASS/CHURCH WITH YOUR CHILD, IT HELPS TO TEACH YOUR CHILD ABOUT BEING REVERENT AS WELL AS TO UNDERSTAND THAT CHURCH IS GOD’S HOUSE-A PLACE TO PRAY AND WORKSHIP OUR LORD. IT IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR CHILDREN TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND GOOD CHURCH MANNERS. I APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORT.

Don’t forget-One daily healthy snack (without drink) and lunch. (if your child is not having School Lunch Program) Also, if your child is attending EDP-Don’t forget-extra snack/drink.

Please send your child dressed appropriately for the ever changing weather. We do go outside and will continue to do so. (unless weather is really unsuitable to do so) Also make sure your child is in school on time.

Naptime blankets will go home on Thursday.  Don’t forget to return with your child upon his/her return to school. Make sure you send an “extra set” of clothing with your child, if I send a note requesting this. There are some children who do not have “extra” clothing available and I am running out of what I have in our school cabinet-SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SEND EXTRA CLOTHING AS NEEDED.

THERE WILL BE HOMEWORK SENT ON MON. 5/6/24. IT SHOULD BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED ON WED. 5/8/24. PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE ASSIGNMENT SHEET. DON’T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, CONCERNS OR EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED.
